Tali pulled the device closer to her, flipping it over easily to pull open the panel that exposed the wires. She reached in easily, hooking a finger around a small bunch of wires and pulling. The sound stopped immediately and she flipped it back over to view the panel. Whatever alarm Garrus had tripped was still going.
“You did what?” She looked up at Garrus, horrified. “You fiddled with it! Garrus!” She pulled the device closer to her, almost cradling it in her arms before looking down at it again. “Oh you poor thing. What did he do to you?” With a shake of her head she turned away from him, placing it on her workbench.
If she hadn’t already been upset with him, Garrus would have rolled his eyes at the way Tali cradled the omni-tool. He’d never understand this side of her, and right now, he needed her help so why bother questioning it. Better to just tell her the truth and get it over with.
Again in a small voice, he confessed, “I was just trying to update some of the translation stuff so I could understand parts of the messages I’ve been getting lately, and I didn’t want to attempt updating my headset first…” Anticipating some more accusations, he quickly added, “I wasn’t trying to break it.”
